Category: Anime

Completed: 100%

Cost: $ US69.89

Hours to Make: 60-80

Inspiration: It was inevitable that I'd decide to cosplay Rei. She's one of my all-time favorite anime characters, and I'm like her in a lot of ways . . . except I'm not an albino clone who pilots a gigantic robot, of course. I don't have much to say, and neither does Rei (did I just rhyme?).

Favorite Aspect: So far, this costume is my magnum opus. I love the over-all character resemblance when I'm all decked out in the plugsuit, and I really, really can't wait to wear this at Metrocon. I am extremely happy that I took the time to include all the accessories and details that are seen in the show -- even though there are improvements to be made, I just love how the plugsuit turned out.

Least Favorite Aspect: The shoes -- I sort of ghetto'ed out on that part because I was fed up and just wanted to be done with the bloody costume. I might re-do that part.

Easiest Task: Making the base bodysuit was pretty easy -- I just altered a catsuit pattern.

Hardest Task: Everything was a challenge, but I'd say the hardest task was making the markings on the suit and lining them up so they looked symmetrical and even.

Complete:
1. Wig (started out white, then I dyed it powder blue with Katie Bair's wig dye.)
2. Synch clips
3. Base body suit
4. Most embellishments and markings on suit
5. Backpack armor
6. Wrist thingies
7. Side Braces (attached to backpack armor)
8. Shoes
