Inspiration: I love this little-known, deliciously creepy series. I wanted to go to AnimeBoston 2005 as a character that was not well known, to spread the good word about "Requiem". My favorite character from the series is Mataichi, a three-foot tall "priest" who enacts karmic revenge on wrong-doers. I do not think anyone has cosplayed as him yet.

Favorite Aspect: The costume should be light and comfortable. Not being a well-known character, I won't have con-goers stopping me every five minutes for photos.

Least Favorite Aspect: Constructing the cloak. I had to figure out how to make it "billow-y" without dragging on the ground or getting in the way. I also had to figure out how to make it so I could lift my arms without lifting the bottom of the cloak, showing my legs. The ornament on the top of Mata' staff was also quite tricky to make. It ended up too to-heavy, so I have to figure out how to not have it wobble so much. I was thinking of running some fishing line from the top of it to the bottom to hold it in place, like a suspension bridge.

Easiest Task: Buying the fabric and supplies. The thing that hangs around his neck was surprisingly easy to make, too. In the show, it's actually a box that dispenses scrolls, but I altered mine into a rectangular bag where I can keep my camera and stuff.

Hardest Task: Constructing the staff. Making the cloak. Wrapping my legs and arms in the bandages (now I know how a Naruto cosplayer feels...), especially when I have no one to help me with my arms- I have tie the bandages together with my teeth!
