Fanime 2007 Cosplay Spectacular Review!

This year the West Coast Reporter’s Team attended Fanimecon 2007 and observed some amazing things at the Cosplay Spectacular! Kimiko, Nikki, Jenny and Andrea have been to many west coast Cosplay Maquerades but this one really lived up to its name!

Marisa Price has been running Cosplay events for many years now, including Anime Expo, Pacific Media Expo and Fanime. The event was held at the San Jose center of Performing Arts. Her and the crew of Pirates (formerly Stage ninjas) ran a beautiful experience for both the audience and the cosplayers.

At the Center of Performing Arts, you could really see the entire stage from every seat. The seating process was well organized! Opening with special Performances by Kevin Metz & Carl Schnaitter playing Shimasen & Guitar Performances that filled the room with traditional sound that prepared this enthusiastic audience for more!	As the show got started the Karaoke Contest Winner was invited to perform in front of masses of people. Nathalie Ferare was very animated and out going, as her songs were very well received.
Derek the MC who also was just as enjoyable at PMX was wonderfully humorous and fun!! Along with the MC and his pirates stash of the coveted “rum” the audience was incredibly receptive, encouraging and positive for EVERY performer. We would say the audience made an impact on the show along with all of its wonderous presentations. Positive, enlightening and continually encouraging.
Colorful! Exciting! Absolutely spectacular! On stage there were a variety of performers, an overwhelming number of presentations with dance, musically orchestrated skits and performances such as Avatar, Pretear, Full Metal Alchemist, One Piece, Gankutsuo, Ouran High School Host Club, Bleach, Record of Lodoss War, Dong Bang Shin Ki and many more!
Our break before while waiting for the winning announcment was honored with a visitation from Guest Rick Myer who was able to wrangle many fans on stage!	Two standing ovations for each of her songs, special guest Melanie O'Connor presented the audience with a shower of opera! Her knowledge of musical background and origins was amazing!

Wayne manager of Usa Musume, DK Squall, Sionna Neidengard (aka Hoshikage) and Elena Montalto (aka Anele) and Ramen from Ramen & Rice known names in Cosplay, you couldn’t ask for a better judging panel! Bright friendly and honest, they do have a tough job! How could you pick when you love this stuff so much! Finally an arrival to a night to remember, winners of the masquerade were called up and received their award!
