Queen Amidala Parade Dress Cosplay

Category: Sci-Fi

Completed: 100%

Cost: $ US450

Hours to Make: 60-80

First worn at: MidSouthCon 2005

Inspiration: I've avoided doing any episode I Amidala costumes, even though I really love them - they're just so intimidating! But I decided for C3 I'd do my favourite one - her parade dress from the end of the movie.
I really love how it came out. I finished it in time to wear to MidSouthCon, but I still want to go back and remake the tiara, and embroider the parasol, so I suspect this is one of those costumes that I'll keep revisiting constantly until I'm 100% happy with it.

Favorite Aspect: The petals! So much fun to make. Over 40 yards worth of chiffon and organza. I bought a serger specifically for this project.. it was a lifesaver! I dyed each one of them and sewed them seperately on... I'm still *dreaming* about all those petals, haha.

Least Favorite Aspect: The tiara - I'm bad and stuff like that, but I found someone who has offered to help me when I'm ready to redo it (who IS good at that stuff!) so this one is just temporary :)
Also for the photoshoot I did (which is most of the pictures!) my mom didn't do my hair right, and I didn't realise, so it's much smaller than it should be :P

Easiest Task: The shoes. That's the only part, haha.

Hardest Task: Sewing all the petals on. Making the parasol (and bending the parasol, which was scary, I was so scared it would break after doing all that work on it!)

Awards:

Best SciFi Recreation at MidSouthCon 2005
First Place at Cosplaylab Amidala Look-A-Like Contest
