Oruha (red gown) of Clover

Profileview Khet Tcheba's Cosplay Lab profile
Oruha (red gown) Cosplay

Category: Manga

Completed: 100%

Cost: $ US 150

Hours to Make: ~60

First worn at: AWA 8 - 2002

Inspiration:

It's Clover...do I need any other reason?

The design for the gown is from the 4th volume of the manga. I've never seen it done and wanted to take a crack at it.

Favorite Aspect:

Cleavage!

I mean, um...

Actually, the beading on the gown. It took SO long to do, but I like the way it came out. Particularly the collar.

Least Favorite Aspect:

The material chosen for the dress consists in part of a fine tinsel thread, which would constantly snag on things.

Easiest Task:

The beading on the hem. I am so grateful for beaded fringe. m(_ _)m

Hardest Task:

Aforementioned beading. I bought beaded trim for the hem of the gown (thank goodness!), but the collar and wrist ornament had to be done by hand.

The gown also has an enormous pair of asymmetrical wings that are dripping with beads, but I was already over budget and shipping them from Austin to Atlanta would have been prohibitively expensive. I may try to make them at some later point in time.
