Lettuce Battle of Tokyo Mew Mew

Profileview sweetestshampoo's Cosplay Lab profile
Lettuce Battle Cosplay

Category: Anime

Completed: 100%

Cost: $ US80-100

Hours to Make: 40-60

First worn at: Metrocon 2003

Inspiration: My friends and I had begun watching Tokyo Mew Mew shortly after its premeire in Japan. We all really liked it, especially our Ichigo. We decided we should do a group (we even had a Ringo!! Our Berri wasnt able to go through with the idea). It was a really fun costume, we even appeared in the September 2003 issue of Newtype!!

Favorite Aspect: The shoes/spats. They were a pain in the butt but they turned out great!!

Least Favorite Aspect: The corset thingy. It kept wanting to slip down on me!!

Easiest Task: The spikes.

Hardest Task: The Spats. I layed down and traced my leg with my shoe on. Making it was the most annoying thing i have ever done. Either it was poofing out too much, or it was bunched or it looked to pointy. Those alone took me a good 5 hours- each. LOL my roomates got SO ANNOYED with my sewing machine going all the time during the last week. (OH! Before I left for FSU I went with Maria to buy myself a sewing machine!!! Its so nice! Does what I want it to, so I can't complain! MUCH better than the evil/ancient one my mom has!) The other thing that was hard/annoying was the ribbons for my wig. I thought it would be easy. Just get wire ribbon right? Well the wire ribbon wouldn't stick out enough. It wasn't firm enough. So I had to paint it with elmers glue like 20 times before it would start getting firm. I got really annoyed with it.
