Sora Cosplay

Category: Video Game

Completed: 100%

Cost: $ US $350

Hours to Make: 20-40

First worn at: Anime Mid-Atlantic 2004

Inspiration: I LOVE this game.. and Sora's a cutie!! I decided on doing the KH2 version because I thought it would be a bit easier to make than the first game. plus i like black much more than red. I also think the second version has more fun details and such, i love straps and buckles ^-^ I also wanted to do a version of Sora that's not as commonly done.

Favorite Aspect: The keyblade itself has to be my favorite aspect of the entire cotume. I also love the idea of actually getting to wear shorts and short sleeves in Baltimore this year for Otakon XD. The costume overall is very comfortable and Durable. It's held up now through quite a few cons.

Least Favorite Aspect: I don't like the pouches on the pants very much. The straps are a bit obnoxious if they slip down my legs. But I think i fixed that problem. The wig also tends to get a bit hot. But it must look good, i've had many people ask me if it was my real hair or not.

Easiest Task: The easiest thing had to have been the shirt. The shirt was VERY easy to make... the shorts weren't that hard, and neither was the wig. After a few bottles of Smirnoff the wig was a piece of cake ^-^; The keyblade was also very simple to make in the end. the only complaint I have about the keyblade is how heavy it is.

Hardest Task: ok, lets list... The shoes - i had NO idea what I was doing with these as I had never made shoes before. In the end, it was a freidn of mine who came to my rescue and made the shoes for me while I completeled the rest of the costume. the Gloves - these started out as a pair of black knit work glives bought at Shop-rite for $1.00... and proved to be a VERY difficult challange to make. It was VERY hard getting the white trim attached to the glove the right way. the grey knucles gaurds on the gloves were made with grey marine vinyl..... .-.- I now hate vinyl very much. as well as buttons. the buttons on the gloves kept falling off with thread, in the end the only thing that would hold them on is safty pins The hoodie - This hoodie started out as a plain simple hoodless zip up pullover bought at the good will. EVERYTHING else was added on. The sleeves were hacked off, the white trim added, the hood added and lined.... and the sholder pieces. I will not begin to explain how many times they were taken off and put back on trying to get them to sit straight on my sholders. the pouches- these things were going to be the death of my costume. They survived through AMA without incident... come animeNEXT.... they were falling apart. I had to completely take them apart and resew them up with a smaller more useable inner pouch to hold everything. the straps were also shortened on the bottom to make them stay up instead of drooping under my knee and causing me to fall flat on my face.
