Inspiration: Origonally the idea was to all go as shinsengumi, but one of my frinds thought i would make a good kenshin. innitially i didnt wnat to do it becasue im not to fond of kenshin's costume form the tv seris (ill pass on the magenta kekogi top!) after much convincing arguments i agreed under the terms that everyone else would go as shinsengumi and i would get to mock fight them, as well as wear the costume from the prequal OAV. as it turned out in the end, time ran out and i was the only one who made a costume. ^_^"
Favorite Aspect: Its so comfortable! plus i really enjoyed wearing it! this is something that if im stuck on a costume for a con i would be happy to revive.
Least Favorite Aspect: not much really. i tend not not have a "least favorite" part of my costumes! sitting down was sort of hard i suppose... specially with that second sword... i did a lot of sitting against walls, more in charecter too i suppose ^_^
Easiest Task: the white undertop. i used an old tae kwon do top that i had laying around... i feel like i cheated ^^"
Hardest Task: the swords. i bough really cheap swords from a dirt mall in new jersey. they were really ugly. they had a blue and gold speckled saya, very unlike kenshin's. I then proceded to take them apart. i removed the blades, and the saigo knots on the saya's. i then spray painted the saya's to match kenshins. i also redyed the saigo on the grip of the sword so it would be darker. i had to teach myself how to retie the saigo onto the sayas and that was hard. plus, after all this was done i had to figure out how to put the whole thing back together without the blades, to make them "con safe." in the end i slipped a little peice of wood into the handle and sayas and bolted it all together, hiding the screws under the saigo knots.
