Inspiration: My dear friend, Toneriko, wanted to cosplay Blair from Soul Eater. As I too was a fan of the series I kind of invited myself to cosplay with her and the group she was gathering for Megacon....one thing lead to another and somehow we decided to do Mizune and "Hooker Blair." Though, to be honest I can't remember why....Regardless the escapade began and I have to say despite the challenges it was a lot of fun and worth every moment.
Favorite Aspect: The top. I should have just bought a lap shade. I ended up making an oval out of wire. I covered it with interfacing (very thick and durable) until it was the proper length. I added another row of wire in the middle and hand stitched it down. I then measured it, cut an appropriate black over, tested it, got it to fit nice and snug and added all those lovely white stripes.
Least Favorite Aspect: Sewing all the stripes. Oh my goodness, stripes, stripes, and more stripes. It wasn't that it was difficult it was simply tedious. It might not have been so bad if they didn't have to extend from the bottom of the costume...but who care I probably would have put a finish on it anyway.
Easiest Task: The shoes. They were the easiest task....actually the cheapest too! I think they ended up being just over10 dollars with socks and materials.
Hardest Task: The hat. I problem solved, had to re-problem solve...and then once more rely on a friend to come in and work her magic so I could get the ears to stand up just right.
