Inspiration: I don't think I've ever spent longer on a single prop then my Rickenbacker. It was all worth it though, because Haruko is my favorite anime character of all time.
This project was a collab between me and my friend Matt. He made the base out of wood, by going to kinkos and printing out a scale replica of a Rickenbacker. Then I did all the painting, and accessories on top. If I had the cash I would have liked the buy REAL Bass parts, but alas being poor, everything is fakery .
Favorite Aspect: Wielding it around.
Least Favorite Aspect: The volume and tuner knobs, I'd like real one.
Easiest Task: er..painting?
Hardest Task: Paying attention to details, and the engine on the back. It took me along time to figure out how to create it myself, but I finally drew up something that worked. I took an old CD player, and ripped the top of it off, so all I was left with was the spinner. I had to sand down most of the plastic so that the fan blades would spin. I then put old dead CD decorated like the orange fan part on top (I used foamies). Then I put the ripchord underneath the CD. The top blue part was made from a plastic mold and Resin I made, then screwed into the back of the Bass. The ripchord is just string and sculpey.
So the engine DOES pull and spin (doesn't make any noise though), but if it very delicate and I have to wind it back up every time I pull it, I'm still pretty proud of it.
