Takuto Cosplay

Category: Anime

Completed: 100%

Cost: $ US60

Hours to Make: 10-20

First worn at: Onicon 1

Inspiration: Cherry had been a fan of the show for a while, and asked me to be the Takuto to her Meroko. So I got my paws on a whole pile of fansubs, rather enjoyed it, and agreed. : 3

Favorite Aspect: The fans. This show had a very small, but very loving fanbase, and some of the sweetest people we met were through recognition of these costumes. : 3 Of course the flip side is that most people seemed to have the impressiont hat my costume was of slutty angel neko yaoi boy, and thus not many pictures of this cotume were taken before it's retirement. XD

Least Favorite Aspect: I wish I could hav gotten my hair a bit more poofy, but the only way to floof my bangs would be to do it after I got them throughthe hat, and that would involve getting hairspray on my lovely moleshin hat! D :

Easiest Task: Wings. Wings are easy and fun. : 3 We did both pairs at Cherry's house over the course of about an hour, using leftover Kuja feathers.

Hardest Task: The lat. Mostly the act of getting the ears on stright. Takuto's hat is supposed to be reminiscent of a motorcycle helmet, so I made the hat rigid with a nice craft foam lining. Unfortunately, the rifid, slightly bowed ears did not want to sit symetrically on the rigid, also bowed hat, and so there was a lot of cursing and pinning and re-pinning. It also has a lot of tricky little details, like the raised nubs that I made by covering little plastic gems in fabri-tac, stretchign fabric over them, and then cutting them out and gluing them in place.
